One of the basic skills that we need is how to select text. There
are a variety of ways of doing this, some are quicker than others.
Try some of these –
Selecting a single word – place your cursor over the word and double click (left mouse) This will select the whole word.
Select a paragraph – place the cursor inside the paragraph and treble click (left mouse).
Selecting a sentence – place the cursor in the sentence and hold the control key (ctrl) and click (left mouse)
Selecting the whole document – place your cursor anywhere in the document and hold down ctrl and ‘a’.
Try this -
Open a word document and try selecting a word, a
paragraph, a sentence or the whole document.
Select the whole page and try changing the look of the text
(right click on the selection and select ‘font’.)
Try changing:
* the colour
* the size
* the font
* bold
* italics
* underlined
If you make a mistake use ctrl + z!
Try to practice this each time you use the computer and it will soon
become a habit!
