Tips and Tricks - selecting text

TipsOne of the basic skills that we need is how to select text. There are a variety of ways of doing this, some are quicker than others.

Try some of these –

Selecting a single word – place your cursor over the word and double click (left mouse) This will select the whole word.

Select a paragraph – place the cursor inside the paragraph and treble click (left mouse).

Selecting a sentence – place the cursor in the sentence and hold the control key (ctrl) and click (left mouse)

Selecting the whole document – place your cursor anywhere in the document and hold down ctrl and ‘a’.

Try this -

Exercise:

Open a word document and try  selecting a word, a paragraph, a sentence or the whole document.

Select the whole page and try changing the look of the text
(right click on the selection and select ‘font’.)

Try changing:

* the colour
* the size
* the font
* bold
* italics
* underlined
 

If you make a mistake use ctrl + z!

Try to practice this each time you use the computer and it will soon become a habit!
