Seeds of Change Exhibition - Apr 2nd to 27th 2007

at Portsmouth Library
The Seeds of Change exhibition is being used as a key
resource by Soka Gakkai International (SGI) and Earth
Charter-related organisations in their efforts to
promote worldwide sustainable development, a concept
perhaps most succinctly expressed as development that
“addresses the needs of the present without jeopardizing
the ability of future generations to meet their needs.”
Exhibition Overview
“Seeds of Change” was initially created by SGI and the
Earth Charter Initiative for the 2002 World Summit on
Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg.
“People often feel overwhelmed by the scale of the
problems facing humanity. Yet the message of this
exhibition is that even in the face of problems of
environmental destruction and poverty, the actions of
one committed individual can make a difference.”
Exhibition dates: April 2nd - 6th and April 10th – 27th

Earth
Charter
 The
Earth Charter is an international declaration of
fundamental principles for building a just, sustainable
and peaceful world. It is the product of a decade-long,
worldwide, cross-cultural dialogue on common goals and
shared values, integrating environmental, social and
economic dimensions of global concerns. The Earth
Charter has been endorsed by environmental groups,
companies, governments and faith-based organisations
from different religious traditions around the world.
It provides a comprehensive vision of the elements which
could make up a sustainable world.

Short film, "A Quiet Revolution", An award
winning educational film which introduces inspiring
examples of individuals around the world who have taken
action to address local environmental problems and
created waves of change"
April 18th

Youth Gathering: Buddhism and the Environment
April 25th

" A Sustainable Future: Empowering Ourselves and
Becoming Part of the Solution" Hosted by SGI UK,
Representatives from local organisations will show what
steps we can take to a sustainable future. This will be
followed by a dialogue to inform and inspire!
